A Helping Hand

I've had the privilege of writing a few unique and heart-warming stories for the Arrow over the past few weeks, but my latest story is definitely my favorite.

A few months ago, a friend of mine had mentioned to me that she would be going on a mission trip to Jacaranda, Kenya this summer. Once i started interviewing her and the people she was working with, I learned that this is more than just the typical mission trip.

While in Kenya, the students will be volunteering at the Jacaranda school for the special needs. This school has nowhere near the proper resources to diagnose or properly teach the children with special needs, so the volunteers bring over materials, musical instruments and new ways of teaching to assist the children and their primary therapists.

Learning about their trip, I realized that no matter what you're into, or what you may be doing, it is always necessary to drop everything and take some time to completely devote to others. Whether you're volunteering at a special needs school in Jacaranda, Kenya or just helping out a friend, you're impacting someone's life in a positive way.
