World Wrestling Entertainment first made an appearance at Southeast Missouri State University in 1987 under its previous name, World Wrestling Federation, and since then has been amazing audiences with TV's biggest names in wrestling.

The WWE will return to the Show Me Center and will feature the WWE Raw World Tour on Friday.

The show will feature wrestlers John Cena, the Big Show and CM Punk, and will also feature several female wrestlers.

"Last year we had Smackdown, change of pace, now we're bringing in the Raw side of it this time," said Josh Hanlon, marketing director of the Show Me Center. "The importance of that is they all have their own wrestling stars, so you're getting to see both sides of the business."

A championship match will also be a highlight of the event.

"[The match is going to be] between Daniel Bryan and CM Punk for the belt ... and then you never know ... we don't know the other match-ups," Hanlon said. "There's a little bit of a surprise element to it."

There will also be a steel cage match between John Cena and the Big Show, which has never been shown live at the Show Me Center.

Adam Dachroeden, a Southeast student, says the championship match is what he is most looking forward to.

"[I want to see it the most] because the championship matches are always the best and the craziest," Dachroeden said.

Hanlon said he thinks that this event will be just as popular as it has been in previous years and will appeal to audiences of all ages.

"It can go back to even people my age that grew up watching it and taking their kids to all the way through college students just wanting to have a good time on a Friday night," Hanlon said.

Dachroeden said a reason he wants to see the show is because it is "a childhood memory."

Hanlon thinks that wrestling fans will find the event even more enjoyable live, as opposed to watching it on TV.

"It's just like a concert, you can listen to your favorite music group on a CD, but would you rather see them live? A lot of people would say yes," Hanlon said. "It's the same thing with wrestling ... you don't feel as close. With a set-up like the Show Me Center has, you're really pretty close to the wrestlers. Even if you're not on the floor, you're going to be able to see everything that's going on and see it well."

Southeast student Lauren Ditto agrees.

"I don't usually watch it on TV, but I feel like it would be fun to see it in person," Ditto said.

The WWE Raw event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Show Me Center.

Tickets can be purchased at the Show Me Center box office or at showmecenter.biz.
