Rufus Red Hots holds first hot dog eating contest

Rufus All-American Red Hots hosted their first annual hot dog eating contest on Saturday July 24 at 600 Broadway Street in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Participants in the contest had seven minutes to consume as many hot dogs as possible and were served five hot dogs at a time. The winner of the contest was Marion, Illinois native Kyle “The Hitman” Hall. He consumed fourteen hot dogs in the seven minutes allotted. The event was covered by KFVS, the Southeast Missourian and KGMO. The event also featured a raffle where attendees could win prizes such as a Blackstone griddle.
