The Office of Career Services will sponsor the Career and Internship Fair on March 6 where more than one hundred employers will meet with students to discuss jobs, take resumes and offer internship opportunities.

Joyce Hunter, outreach and events coordinator with Career Services said the event will be the second Career and Internship Fair for the Office of Career Services and expects over 300 students to attend the event this year, a greater number than those who attended the 2013 fair.

"The Office of Career Services has decided to focus on one big event as opposed to the several small ones we've had in the past. We hope this will bring in more students across all majors," said Hunter.

Hunter said the Office of Career Services has reached out to students about the event through Facebook, Twitter, the university website and several hundred flyers and posters across campus to emphasize the importance of students attending career-focused events like the fair.

"It is just one of the most vital components of a college experience," Hunter said. "It provides students such a wealth of experience to understand how to interact with employers, understand what they are seeking, and learn how to properly prepare to meet with them."

Austin Nenninger, a junior construction management major said he saw the flyer for the event and is planning to attend in hopes of finding a potential employer.

"I think the career fair is a great idea, it isn't always easy for students to get their name out there and this is a good opportunity to do so," Nenninger said.

Though the event calls for juniors and seniors, Hunter said the event is open to all students.

Alex Bess-Rhodes, a freshman at Southeast, has not yet declared a major but plans to attend the event in hopes of finding a career he may be interested in.

"I think it would be a good idea for me to get an idea of what I would like to do. It makes it easier when you can talk to employers and get to know what they do on a daily basis," Bess-Rhodes said.

The Career and Internship Fair will be held between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center-North.

A list of attending employers can be found online at semo.edu/careers.com.
