It’s that time of year again for the Career Expo and employers are going to be gathering at Southeast Missouri State from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Feb. 9th at the Student Recreation Center.

One of the goals for this year’s Career Expo is to give back to not only current students, but students who have already graduated. Dan Presson, coordinator of employer relations said “we are allowing all alumni to come” because it was important to him that they are employed also.

“We are having a giveaway to the first 200 people who arrive in business attire and have four copies of their resume,” Presson said.

Presson has also said business attire is required, and if students want to find out about the giveaway, then they will have to attend.

Presson stated 125 employers are projected to attend the event this year. There will be more space this year for the employers and students, just to make the environment less stressful and so conversations can be more private.

Presson also wanted to address the concerns about the focus potentially being on part-time jobs instead of full-time this year.

“It’s just a rumor,” Presson said. “Every employer is allowed to attend, whether it be full-time or part-time, but it will mostly be full-time.”

Mia Campbell is a sophomore and plans to get ahead of the curve by attending the Career Expo this year.

“I’ve never been [Career Expo] so I think it would be a start in finding a job for my career field,” Campbell said. “It’s all over campus; there’s no way you could miss it.”

Presson is happy to reach out to more students and alumni this year, and students who are not interested in a job may also attend, as observers are also welcome to come as well.
