"The point guards are good shooters and they all have good rebounding, they are a good team all around," said sophomore guard Katie Norman. "We struggle with rebounds but we are going to work on that along with communication."

Saturday, Jan. 22, Southeast broke a 10-game road losing streak at the CFSB Center against Murray State with a score of 48-44. It was their first road win of the season and first win on Murray's court since 2008.

"We had a good week of practice and the loss on Wednesday against UT Martin pushed us to execute a better game plan," said Norman.

With the win against Murray State a six-game OVC road losing streak also ended.

Sophomore guard Jasmine Davisgave the Redhawks their largest first half lead with a score of 24-18.

Leading the Redhawks with eleven points on a 4-7 field goal shooting and 3-4 three point range was sophomore guard Shelah Fields.

Sophomore forward Brittany Harrielmade nine points and grabbed a career-high of 13 rebounds. On defense she had a game-high two steals and two blocks.

"The coaches told me to step up," Harriel said. "It felt good to contribute to the team."

Norman scored nine points with six rebounds, tying her season high.

The Racers (6-13, 2-7 OVC) kept it close throughout the game but Southeast managed to have two nine point leads in the night. The Redhawks scored the first five points of the game and in the first half gave up the lead only once.

Southeast held tight to a 44-38 lead with 3:11 remaining. As about a minute fell from the clock, the Racers scored six baskets making it a two-point game with 1:20 left on the scoreboard.

Junior guard Karley Evans was fouled and sank both free throw attempts to make it 48-44. As Southeast scrambled on defense two shots by the Racers were missed to end the game and give the Redhawks a victory.

Southeast shot 26 percent from the field range but managed to only miss just three of their 18 free throw attempts and collected a season-high 45 rebounds.

Murray shot 32 percent but after 18 attempts they only made two three pointers.

This Thursday Southeast takes on Jacksonville State at 5:15 and on Saturday Tennessee Tech at 4:00. Don't forget to wear black on Jan. 29 as we go to cheer on the Redhawks for "The Show Me Sellout – Part II" event.
