The Student Activities Council at Southeast Missouri State University is now offering a free SEMOSAC app.

SAC is an organization that plans and hosts a variety of different activities and events for students on campus. Most activities are free.

"The SEMOSAC app allows you to see everything SAC in one place," social media director Trevor Mulholland said.

The app features information about SAC events and also links to its Facebook, Twitter and Wordpress pages. Students can contact the council with questions or for more information on the app by filling out an in-app contact form.

SAC members found that students are interacting with their college organizations online now more than ever.

"Some SAC members were at a conference last spring, and we noticed that a lot of the other schools there were advertising their new apps," Mulholland said. "After doing our research, we polled the SAC members and decided that it was worth putting some of our resources into."

Members are excited about the newly added feature the app includes that will allow students to upload pictures they take at SAC events directly to the app.

"We're really excited for the new feature," Mulholland said. "We will review these pictures and they may be used in the future Student Activities Council advertisements."

Students with the app will be able to receive notifications about upcoming events.

"My personal favorite part about the app is that it allows SAC to send push notifications to all of the users' phones," Mulholland said. "If something changes at the last minute, or we find something important that we need to send out, it just takes a few clicks and it goes straight to all of the SEMOSAC app users."

The app is available in both Google Play and Apple stores. Students with the app will also be able to enter contests throughout the semester, only available through the app, to win special prizes.
