The Redhawks moved up to number 13 in both Football Championship Subdivision polls after a 41-24 victory against Austin Peay on Saturday.

This marks the highest ranking Southeast has had since entering division 1-AA in 1991. Their sixth-straight win sent the team to the five-spot in The Sports Network media polls and seven in the coach's poll. Before this year the highest Southeast has been ranked in the FCS was 20th back in 2003.

"It's great recognition," said Southeast head coach Tony Samuel. "It's great for the program any time you get that type of notoriety."

This Saturday's game against Eastern Kentucky is the first of three straight home games for the Redhawks.

The Colonels are ranked 5th in the OVC with a record of 1-1 in conference and 2-4 overall. SeSELast Saturday Eastern Kentucky lost to conference team UT Martin with a score of 10-7 for the first time after meeting 20 times since 1973. UT Martin scored a 28-yard passing touchdown with 5:06 left in the game to give the Skyhawks the win.

Southeast's defense will be on full guard this Saturday as Eastern Kentucky comes to town. "We have to have a good hard practice and film study all week so we can get all of our fits and coverages right against what they do on offense," said senior safety Aris Bowen. "I think if we can keep our practice tempo and get good film sessions in we'll have a great game."

Saturday in Clarksville, Tenn. the Governors scored 14 unanswered points leaving Southeast scoreless until the start of the second quarter. "We kind of let our guard down with our opponent," said redshirt junior wide receiver Chantae Ahamefule.

With Southeast still trailing Austin Peay running back Wesley Kitts fumbled the kickoff and was recovered by freshman redhawk Trent Peterson at Peay's 36. Gelbach kicked a 47-yard field goal with four seconds left in the half putting the score to 14-13 at halftime. "The momentum was shifted towards us as we went into the second half," said Peterson. "The field goal gave us confidence because we knew if we came out in the second half and played tough through the game we'd come out with a win."

Senior running back Henry Harris came out strong the second half as he made a 71-yard run on the kickoff return near the end of the 3rd. Harris is the first player to break the FCS rushing yards record of 1,000 for the year. He now stands first in FCS with a 1,000 plus rushing yards and has totaled 2,000 for his career.

Sophomore free safety Tylor Brock made his 5th interception of the year in the fourth quarter for a 67-yard run to Peay's two-yard line. Brock now leads the OVC in interceptions.

The Redhawks outscored the Governors 41 to 10.

"It was a good test for us to see if we could keep our composure," senior cornerback Abraham Woodard said. "We could have easily given up, but we didn't."
