The Student Activities Council (SAC) hosted a free event where students were able to receive a personalized item courtesy of the Student Activities Council.

Students were able to stop by and create a free personalized ‘Hollywood star’ as a keepsake decoration.

Artist Michelle Feigenbaum was hired to create the customized stars for this event. She customized the template to students’ choosing, printed it out, and adhered it to a durable, glass-like square to give the resemblance of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“One thing I love is working with college students. I feel that working with college students keeps me a lot younger and healthier,” Feigenbaum said.

Feigenbaum was invited to the event by SAC to provide a unique keepsake for students as they walked through campus on Friday afternoon.

Junior middle school science education major Kaden Constantz is a member of the outdoor on-campus group within SAC. Constantz approached students passing by with an example, ‘Hollywood Star,’ and encouraged them to stop by the event.

“The purpose for today's event is to deliver these amazing stars to students and overall drum up interest for SAC like always so we can continue to expand and do more detailed activities,” Constantz said.

Many SAC members not a part of the outdoor on-campus committee within SAC were also present and helping with the Hollywood Stars event.

Junior communication disorders major Makenna Woods is the team lead for indoor on-campus events and was helping out with the event.

“It is great to get people a craft that they can have in their dorm. SAC gives students an opportunity to have fun on campus when things are stressful,” Woods said.

Junior Criminal Justice major Jordan Holden participated and created a personalized Hollywood star.

“I believe [SAC] is important because it brings all the students together. They try to make things fun so that everyone feels invited to come and do it,” Holden said.

The main focus of SAC is to show SEMO students that campus involvement is fun. By having different free events for students to participate in, there is more of an opportunity for students to meet new people and make connections.

Junior social work major Ashlyn Cunningham is the team lead for outdoor on-campus events for SAC. Cunningham was in charge of the planning for the Hollywood Stars event.

“We’re all rock stars here at SEMO and I believe that everyone should be entitled to feel that power,” Cunningham said.
