Our favorite teenage mutated crime fighting turtles are back with a new look and the same killer skills. The four brothers are here to scarf down some pizza and take on a new villain in this reboot. Growing up in the sewer, the turtles are taught never to trust humans as they would not accept them the way they were, but they must break out of that mentality to take on the buzzing menace known as Superfly. Let’s visit the sewers and look closely at our crime-fighting team.

The film tells the origin story of the turtle's story with a new animation style, giving it the same vibe as a graphic novel. In the dim lights in the city of New York, Baxter Stockman, a goofy scientist, was experimenting with the ooze, but the TCRI, the Techno Cosmic Research Institute, shut him down and took his research to build their army of super soldiers. Unfortunately, the ooze slips through their fingers and mutates Master Splinter and his four sons: Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello. He trains them to be ninjas but warns them that the human world will never accept them. The four brothers must learn to live through the shadows, but they may have knocked opportunity in the head. While out on the rooftops, they meet April O’Neil, a journalist who wants to help them in exchange for information with her investigation into Superfly, a mutated fly Stockman created who wants to rid the world of humans. Along with an army of mutants, Superfly looks for world domination, and the turtles must realize that being heroes is not all about acceptance but protecting the people who can’t protect themselves.

The artistic aura around the movie and the animation style make it a classic among the newer audience of TMNT fans. There are some dated slang and references, but it does not overpower the movie. The Mutants have excellent voice actors from Ice Cube, John Cena, Seth Rogen, Post Malone, Jackie Chan, Paul Rudd, and many more. One thing I found interesting is that Shamon Brown Jr., Nicholas Cantu, Micah Abbey, and Brady Noon all voice the different brothers, and they are teenagers, so it gives the movie and the brothers an authentic and newer look. This movie has something for the OG and newer fans of the turtles. This film is an excellent watch if you are looking for a movie with comedy, vibes, drama, and mutant green butt-kicking brothers.
