Delta Chi fraternity and the High Rollers team won a bowling tournament put on by Recreation Services on Tuesday.

The tournament was divided into men's and co-recreational teams. Each team had four bowlers. Each member bowled two complete games and added their points for their final score.

Delta Chi won the men's tournament with a score of 1,070. Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity had four teams in the tournament and took second, third, fifth and sixth places. Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity took fourth place. The second place Sig Ep team had the highest single round score of all teams at the event with a second round score of 563.

Delta Chi bowled a 540 in its first game and a 530 in its second game, making it the only team to record a score of at least 500 in both rounds. The team was led by junior computer networking major Dillon Higginbotham, who competed in a state competition in high school.

"Since I was [our] last [bowler], it was kind of up to me, and I just went with it," Higginbotham said. "It had helped that I had been through it before."

The High Rollers won the co-recreational tournament with a score of 978. It was one of two teams participating that were not associated with a Greek organization on Southeast Missouri State University's campus.

The High Rollers have won the tournament twice since 2010.

"It's pretty exciting," communication disorders and communication studies major Jessica Cooper said. "This is our third year playing. We won our freshman year, lost last year and we redeemed ourselves this year, so that's exciting."

Cooper also said that she wished that Recreation Services would do the tournament in the fall semester as well.

The Delta Delta Delta sorority and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity joined forces and had three teams in the co-recreational tournament. One of those teams took second place with a score of 909. The other two teams finished in fourth and fifth place. The Bowling Stones, the other team not associated with a Greek organization, took third with a score of 809.
