On Sept. 17, Southeast Missouri State University students of the National Pan-Hellenic Council played in a basketball game against students from the University of Central Missouri at the Student Recreation Center-North. Seniors Cole Davis of Alpha Phi Alpha and Gordon Taylor of Phi Beta Sigma hosted, planned and participated in the event. The game also featured a halftime performance from members of Southeast's dance organization, the Showstoppers.

The basketball game, according to Taylor, was an event added to the Family Weekend activities to attract more students outside of Southeast and promote Frathouse Entertainment, a brand started by Taylor and Cole that hosts a variety of parties and other functions throughout the year. They have become a name not only familiar to Southeast students, but also students from various colleges and universities across the Midwest region, according to Taylor.

"We host a lot of events not only in Cape Girardeau, but in St. Louis too, so a lot of students from different schools can participate," Taylor said. "We thought more people would be willing to travel if there were a full weekend of events to go to."

Other NPHC members present at the event included Kappa Alpha Psi from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Taylor said Southeast's NPHC has a good relationship with NPHC members from other schools.

"It's always love no matter what," Taylor said. "Any time we travel to other colleges, or if they come to visit us, we always take care of each other and make sure everyone is comfortable."

The game was mostly evenly matched between the two schools, but ended with a score of 65-61, with Southeast coming out ahead. Anyone interested in upcoming events hosted by Frathouse Entertainment can contact Taylor through social media via Snapchat @gsemo.
