The Southeast Missouri State women’s basketball team defeated Lindenwood-Belleville 108-59 Wednesday night at the Show Me Center in its final exhibition game of the year.

The Redhawks also scored over 100 points in its other exhibition game this year, defeating Oakland City 109-66 on Nov. 1.

The fast-paced offense and plethora of shooters has Southeast’s coach Rekha Patterson excited.

“We do want to run,” Patterson said after the game. “Whether it’s off a make or a miss we do want to run because I think we have bigs that can run. We can pass ahead, we have guards that can attack in transition. And then if we don’t have anything then we are going to look to reverse the ball, go high-low, get points in the paint and if they start to take that away, then I think we have perimeter players who can shoot it.”

Senior guard Olivia Hackmann led the way in scoring with 27 points and added nine rebounds to her night. Sophomore guard Hannah Noe made seven of 10 three-pointers to account for all of her 21 points on the night. Senior forward Erin Bollman also collected a double-double in the win with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

“I thought we competed pretty well,” Bollman said. “We kept our intensity up both [exhibition] games. We really looked to push the ball, and intensity was good.”

Southeast’s bench players were also a key factor in the victory, outscoring Lindenwood–Belleville 59-15. Patterson referenced Bollman’s game and also that Bollman’s leadership was “really huge.”

Redshirt freshman forward Imani Johnson finished the night with 14 points off the bench, including a pair of three-pointers and six rebounds.

“Her numbers were good,” said Patterson. “Her ability to shoot the three will really stretch some things out for us.”

Freshman guard Adrianna Murphy also had a good night off the bench, said Patterson. Murphy’s nine assists were a game high.

The Redhawks’ defense was also on display, forcing 28 turnovers and converting those into 35 points. Eight different players recorded a steal for a total of 15 in the game, while three different players combined for four blocked shots.

Noe gives credit to the team’s intensity.

“You’re going hard 100 percent every single time on defense… I think the intensity on the defensive end has picked up a lot this year and it’s helped us out a lot.”

Southeast also out-rebounded Lindenwood–Belleville 67 to 30. Thirty-two of the rebounds came on the offensive side, with 13 different Southeast players recording at least one rebound in the game.

Patterson discussed the team’s need to decrease turnovers throughout the rest of the season.

“We can’t have 21 turnovers, that’s for sure. Even if we score 108 points, I don’t think we can turn it over 21 times,” Patterson said.

Patterson also thanked fans for their continued support.

“[I was] pleased with our effort,” she said.“Before the game started, I told them I didn’t want to be a one-hit wonder with our energy, effort and attitude and I felt like we did a good job of that tonight.”

Southeast will begin its regular season Nov. 14 at St. Louis University. The Redhawks’ first home game will start at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Show Me Center where they will take on Harris-Stowe.
