Southeast Missouri State University offers a variety of intramural sports. Intramurals gives students the opportunity to have fun, meet others and competitively play sports.

"I remember freshman year of college when our team was playing for the championship in sand volleyball, and we won by two points," Southeast senior Derek May said. "It was a great game and our team had a lot of good laughs and competitiveness."

May said that he's excited to sign up for intramurals this fall and hopes to create more memories while he plays throughout the year.

"Playing intramurals is a great way to get yourself active, have fun, meet new people and exert energy in a healthy way," May said. "It's a blast for people who want to be competitive or just play for fun."

Students with a Southeast ID card as well as faculty, staff, alumni and community members who have purchased a recreation services membership are eligible to participate in the intramural sports program.

Sports offered this fall will include 3-on-3 basketball, badminton, flag football, sand and indoor volleyball, soccer, softball and ultimate frisbee.

"They're all fun activities and it's a good way to interact with people outside of the classroom," said Jennifer Rose, assistant director of sports, youth and family programs at Recreation Services. "Intramurals give students a chance to take a break from their classes and play sports that range from being competitive to playing just for fun."

Students can sign up on imleagues.com/semo. Students can create a team, join a team, or register as a free agent and teams can invite them to play.

"New students that want to play can create an account on the IMLeagues website and then they'll get information on what to do from there," Rose said. "They can also go to their residence hall director and talk to them about getting involved in intramurals, and they'll be able to point students in the right direction."

In the case of inclement weather for outdoor sports, Recreation Services will not make a decision regarding the playing of games until after 3 p.m.

For more information on cancellation of games, players can call the IM RainLine at (573)-651-5900. Other questions about intramural sports can be directed to Jennifer Rose at (573)-986-7379 or jrose@semo.edu.
