The Southeast Missouri State University women's soccer team recorded a shutout, a 1-0 victory over No. 5 Belmont in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

The Southeast Missouri State University women's soccer team recorded a shutout, a 1-0 victory over No. 5 Belmont in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

It was the teams first OVC tournament win since 2007.

Southeast midfielder Torey Byrd scored the only goal in the 13th minute, just inside the box to the far side. Forward Kasey Crowden lofted the ball to defender/forward Storm French, then assisted Byrd for her team-leading goal. Goalkeeper Renee Kertz recorded five saves.

The Redhawks will extend their season at 4 p.m. Friday at Skyhawk Field against OVC regular season champion UT Martin.
