Senior goalkeeper Ashton Aubuchon from Florissant, Mo., broke the school record for career saves that was held by Lindsay Pickering, who now serves as an assistant coach for the team, on Oct. 25 against SIU Edwardsville.

Pickering set the mark at 228 saves in 2007.

"It's a really good feeling honestly," Aubuchon said. "I came in here and everybody told me 'You're supposed to be the next Lindsay Pickering,' and I don't think I realized how much that actually meant."

Aubuchon has recorded 81 saves this season. She also has recorded six shutouts this season in Ohio Valley Conference play. She has been named the Adidas OVC Goalkeeper of the week twice this season.

Aubuchon and the Southeast Missouri State University soccer team (8-6-3) will play in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, which starts on Thursday. The Redhawks finished the regular season with a 6-2-2 record in conference.

The Redhawks finished third in the conference standings following a loss in their final regular season game against the UT Martin Skyhawks (10-8-1, 8-2 OVC).

The Skyhawks defeated Southeast 1-0 in double overtime to win the OVC Championship and the right to host the conference tournament at home in Martin, Tenn. A win would have given Southeast the regular-season title.

"I think that our end-of season schedule couldn't be any better because they're some of my favorite teams to play in the league," Southeast coach Heather Nelson said before the matchup. "To finish with UT Martin who are returning regular-season champions, made two NCAA tournament appearances, to me couldn't be better. I feel our team plays better the better the opponent."

Freshman midfielder/forward Natasha Minor has been an important factor for Southeast's success this season and she leads the team with 12 points scored, seven of which have come against conference opponents.

In the OVC tournament last season, Southeast got in as the fourth seed and started the tournament against the fifth-seeded Belmont Bruins. The Redhawks defeated the Bruins 1-0 and moved on to the semifinal round where they played No. 1 seed UT Martin.

The Redhawks lost to UT Martin 1-0. The Skyhawks went on to win the tournament against Austin Peay by a score of 2-0.

The Redhawks will start tournament play at 7 p.m. on Thursday against Austin Peay (5-4-1) in Martin, Tenn.

"It will be my first tournament, so I'm really excited to go into it," Minor said.

"I'm nervous, but I think it will be a fun experience. I think we have an amazing team that will pull it off this year."
