Student Activities Council will host its final concert event of the school year featuring country artist Natalie Stovall and The Drive immediately following the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks baseball game.

"Natalie Stovall was just named Best Female Artist for the Campus Activities Magazine's 2014 Reader's Choice Awards. We decided to bring her to Southeast after hearing her at the National Association for Campus Activities," SAC music coordinator Kynli Smith said.

According to Natalie Stovall's website, Stovall has been performing country music for over 10 years with inspiration spanning from Shania Twain to Aerosmith. Natalie combines her musical inspirations with her multiple instrumental talents and lead vocals.

"Honestly she's just a complete talent. We thought it would be a really exciting experience to bring her here, especially since she's an up-and-coming artist who's picking up momentum," SAC vice president Zeak Jackson-Morgan said.

SAC plans to not only attract students but the community as well.

"We really wanted to reach out to the community. The concert will also be held at the baseball field after a game, so hopefully this attracts everyone from the game to come join," SAC co-special events coordinator Pamela Avila said.

Planning events during sporting events has been a trend for SAC with its past few entertainment events this school year, like The Bucket Boys halftime act at the Redhawks basketball game back in January.

"Who doesn't like music and baseball? We thought it would be a great opportunity for Southeast students and the public to come enjoy a baseball game, and listen to some great music from Natalie Stovall and The Drive," Smith said. "We also partnered with athletics for this SAC concert event. We are excited that we can partner with athletics for this concert. I feel like more people will enjoy two of my personal favorite pastimes, baseball and country music."

A change in the event location was just one of the many changes SAC made when planning this concert.

"People should come to the event because it is going to be something unique that SAC has never really done before," Avila said. "We always have several small musicians throughout the year, but we are going all out this time to create a really amazing concert for everyone to enjoy. Natalie Stovall is also a very talented up and coming artists and from the previews I have seen, she knows how to put on a great show that everyone can enjoy."

SAC's concert event featuring Natalie Stovall and The Drive can be seen at 4 p.m. on May 4, immediately after the Redhawks baseball game at Capaha Park. Natalie Stovall and The Drive will release their debut album later this year, featuring her newest country single "Baby Come On With It."

According to Smith, Natalie Stovall and The Drive will be releasing their debut album later this year and their music can be heard on the radio in Cape Girardeau, particularly on K103. You can even request her latest single.

"I encourage everyone to check out her website, www.nataliestovall.com her YouTube channel featuring her latest single, 'Baby Come On With It', along with her Facebook and Twitter @nataliestovall. I guarantee if you love country music you are going to love this big curly haired fiddle playing superstar," Smith said.
