The Arrow Leadership and Success Summit in November will feature Mike Matheny, the St. Louis Cardinals' manager, as the keynote speaker, and all student tickets will be free of charge courtesy of Southeast Missouri State University's Student Government Association, and all faculty and staff tickets will be sponsored by the Office of the President.

A decision was made on Monday by SGA to allow tickets for the leadership summit to be free of charge to all Southeast students who present a valid student ID at the Show Me Center Box Office.

"We knew that we [SGA] wanted students to be able to attend this event for free, it was just a matter of finding the correct way to do that and senate felt that reimbursing students, not even reimbursing students, just a reimbursement was the best way to go about that -- allowing students to get tickets and then we get charged later," Tyler Sayer, SGA treasurer, said.

The Arrow Leadership and Success Summit, which is sponsored by Saint Francis Medical Center, will be an opportunity for students and other people from around the area to hear from a successful and prominent leader about what it takes to lead winning teams and organizations.

"I think it's going to benefit students because any speaker that comes here obviously has some importance, and we think that what Mike Matheny has to say is going to be really important," Sayer said. "We just want the students to be able to hear what he has to say."

"We thank the Southeast Missouri State University student government for sponsoring student tickets," Lucas Presson, general manager of the Arrow, said. "Events like this are a wonderful opportunity for students, and we encourage all Southeast students to make plans to attend. Students can pick up a free ticket at the Show Me Center box office."

The Arrow Leadership and Success Summit featuring a speech by Matheny followed by a 15-minute Q&A will begin at 7 p.m. on Nov. 17 in the Show Me Center.

"Good leadership is important in today's world, and it's great to hear inspiring messages from those who have made their mark as a leader," Presson said. "Mike Matheny's talk at the Arrow Leadership and Success Summit will be an opportunity for students, the university community and those in the area to learn and be inspired."

Student, faculty and staff tickets are free of charge with presentation of a valid Southeast ID and general admission tickets are $10. A limited amount of VIP tickets are also available for $99 and will include a meet-and-greet and a photo with Matheny. All tickets are available for pick up and purchase at the Show Me Center Box Office, by phone at (573) 651-5000 or online at ShowMeCenter.biz.
