The Southeast Missouri State men's basketball team had its first regular-season game at the Show Me Center on Tuesday and notched its first win on the young season 86-49 over Hannibal-LaGrange.

The win over the 0-4 Trojans improves the Redhawks overall record to 1-2 on the season and 4-0 all-time against Hannibal-LaGrange. The victory also raises the record for the Redhawks to 8-0 against non-Division I opponents under coach Dickey Nutt.

Southeast sent the crowd into a fit with an alley-oop dunk by sophomore guard Antonius Cleveland from junior guard Isiah Jones for the first basket of the game.

Senior guard/forward Jarekious Bradley returned from a bruised quad to hit his first 3-pointer of the game in the first half, but the Trojans were scrappy early on. Nutt was forced to call a timeout after a trio of 3-point shots that tightened the game to 12-9 Redhawks.

The game remained close at 15-11 until the Redhawks were able to go on a 10-0 run to increase their lead by 14 points.

Senior forward Josh Langford started the run with a 3-point basket and Bradley added an old-fashioned 3-point play to add to the 25-11 advantage.

"It was good to have Jarekious and Josh back," Nutt said. "They gave us a boost tonight."

The Trojans were able to get back within seven at 29-22 after a quick 3-point shot and a backdoor layup by junior guard Jay Jones that forced the Redhawks to take another timeout.

The Redhawks came out of the time out with a 13-3 run to open up its largest lead of the half to 17 points.

The half was punctuated by another Cleveland/Jones connection for an alley-oop dunk.

The Redhawks were able to go into the half up 42-29.

"Overall, I thought we were selfish in the first half, adjusted at halftime, and were a much better basketball team in the second half," Nutt said.

At the start of the second half, the Redhawks were able to go on a 22-6 run highlighted by two 3-point shots by Bradley.

After being held scoreless in the first half, senior forward Nino Johnson got in the scoring column with a pair of free throws and added a dunk in the run.

"I was excited to have Jarekious back and that was why I was so passive in the first half," Johnson said. "The coaches got on me to be more aggressive and that's what I did."

The largest lead of the half was 40 points on a jump shot by freshman guard J.T. Jones making the score 84-44.

Bradley led the way for the Redhawks with 15 points. Langford was able to add 13 points in his first game of the of the regular season after being suspended for the first two games.

Johnson shook off a passive first half to have 10 points on a perfect 3-3 from the floor. Cleveland was also in double figures with 10.

Overall, the Redhawks were able to spread the scoring among 12 players.

Johnson led the way on the defensive end with two blocks and a career-high five steals. Cleveland and freshman guard Marcus Wallace were able to have two steals. Wallace was also able to gather a team-high six rebounds from the guard position.

After a subpar season from the free-throw line at 69 percent, the Redhawks were able to hit 18-23 from the line for nearly 80 percent.

The Redhawks will take the floor for its next game on Saturday when they take on Central Arkansas on the road at 3 p.m. The next home game will be on Nov. 29 against Alabama A&M at 6 p.m.
