The Show Me Center will be hosting Grammy-winning country music star Miranda Lambert on her Certified Platinum Tour on Feb. 26. This will be Lambert's third time performing at the Show Me Center. In her prior appearances she opened for her now husband Blake Shelton, fellow country music act Dierks Bentley and in October of 2011, she performed as the headliner.

Wil Gorman, the director of the Show Me Center, said that Lambert's success and popularity is why they continue to host her.

"Miranda is an artist that continues to gain popularity with every new album release. Her latest album "Platinum" debuted at number one on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and as a result, she became the first artist in the survey's 50-year history to post five consecutive career-opening number ones," Gorman said in an email interview.

Gorman added that they might be able to accommodate the increased demand.

"Currently, tickets for the Miranda Lambert concert are sold out. However, we hope to release some additional seats that are in various production holds the week or day of the show," Gorman said.

Some Southeast students were able to purchase tickets before the box office ran out. Junior Kaitlyn Crawford was one of those students.

"My roommate surprised me with tickets for my 21st birthday," Crawford said.

She said that she has attended two of Lambert's concerts before and is excited to attend once again.

"I've been to one in St. Louis and one in Minneapolis, Minnesota," she said. "They were so much fun. I'm so excited to see the show. It is going to be so much fun and a great night out full of lots of dancing and singing."

Previous sold out shows have included Aerosmith with Guns N' Roses, Poison, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, ZZ Top with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Toby Keith with Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean and Eric Church.

Various contemporary country artists have performed at the Show Me Center and Gorman attributes that to the current popularity of the genre in the Cape Girardeau area as well as the frequent amount of tour stops country artists tend to have. However, while he says the genre is popular, the Show Me Center staff continues to look at expanding the types of performers they book.

"We continually search for quality entertainment in popular genres to bring to this market," Gorman said. "Over the past 14 months we have been successful in hosting events in Active Rock (Skillet & We as Human); Classic Rock (REO Speedwagon and Styx); Comedy (Ricky Smiley); Contemporary Christian (TobyMac/Third Day and Chris Tomlin); Country (The Band Perry, Hunter Hayes, Jake Owen and Brantley Gilbert). You can be sure that we are now and will do our best to add to this list in the future."

The concert will at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
