Devin Spears is the owner of fashion startup DKThree and the president of the Fashion Society at Southeast Missouri State University. Spears describes his line as "hip-hop classy meets urban" because of its wide range of styles.

"A Winter Storm Fashion Show" will introduce DKThree at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 in the Student Recreation Center-North.

Spears' first and middle name, Devin Keith, and his number of brothers make up his company name.

Spears said when it comes to his fashion, he receives visions and from there, it just happens.

The fashion show is an example of those visions because he knew that he wanted to do it since June.

During the production of A Winter Storm, guests will witness the theatrics of a movie being played.

"A movie is going to be played in the beginning, which is going to show a storm and a town destroyed," Spears said.

Spears said the movie features four scenes. The scenes incorporate pieces representing high class, middle class, misfits and bandits and nightlife.

Capes and ponchos are a few pieces that will be in the high class category. High class is a scene focused around affluent people wearing high fashion.

Middle class will display items ranging from urban everyday business casual to street style.

"The third scene is going to be misfits and bandits," Spears said. "It's going to be very hip-hop-ish, hood, also urban too, kind of like Beyonce's 'Superpower' with ski masks and stuff like that."

Jumpsuits and dresses are befitting to the nightlife portion of the show, as it features clubwear.

"With nightlife, it's going to be sexy, but still tasteful," Spears said.

Spears said the final scene will feature a statement piece, and people can expect to be surprised by it.

"My final is a statement piece. It's going to make you say, 'Oh my Lord,'" Spears said.

When it comes to the overall color scheme of his line, Spears said there are no pops of color.

"I can tell you there's no pop of color. Only neutral colors like black, white, olive, brown," Spears said.

Spears credits Kim Kardashian and Kanye West as the inspiration behind his clothing line.

"I could appreciate a lot of Kim and Kanye's look. So you're going to notice a lot of the things, not mimics, but a lot of things kind of that era," Spears said.

It is clear Spears seeks inspiration from celebrities such as Beyonce and Kim Kardashian, but his family is also his inspiration.

"My grandmother and my mother are both my inspiration for fashion because they both can be flashy, but tasteful at the same time," Spears said.

It was Spears' mother who created the outfit that started it all, while Spears added embroidery to it.

"It was my junior prom. I wanted something off the wall, and I started looking around," Spears said. "I told my mom I wanted to wear white with like silver. And then I kind of came up with a concept. We executed it and it turned out really nice."

When Spears recreated a dress Beyonce wore, turning it into a tuxedo, his passion grew even further.

"I was just like, 'I love this. I'd really like to do it,'" Spears said.

In Spears' freshman year of college he started making bracelets. Once Spears saw that a lot of people were interested in purchasing the bracelets, he began selling them.

"I made my first sales that November of 2012, and I sold like $90 in a day," Spears said.

Shortly after the success of Spears' bracelets, he launched the website for his line.

"I started taking pictures. I was taking pictures on a Galaxy X3 and uploading them on there," Spears said.

The following October people grew curious about where Spears shopped.

"It was the next October that people kept asking me, 'Where do you shop at? Where do you get your clothes from?" Spears said.

Due to the curiosity about Spears' fashion choices, he decided to implement a business venture.

"Basically, I started working with my vendor who I have been working with now for two or three years," Spears said. "And I was just like, A lot of people would like to wear what I have, I would like to do a business deal with you."

As the time counts down for the fashion show, Spears said he wants to be discovered based upon his dramatics.

"I want people to be able to come to the next fashion show," Spears said. "I'm hoping and praying that somebody could be in the audience to say, 'I want you to do something in New York's Fashion Week.'"

Kenya Williams, stage manager of the fashion show, said she knew she wanted to be a part of the show because of her love for fashion and her prior stage management experience.

"I knew I wanted to be a part of the Fashion Society, period," Williams said. "And when he was like, 'Our first task is this,' I really just jumped on it because we have an abundance of people who can do hair and people who can style."
