The student organization Fashion Society at Southeast Missouri State University showcased Devin Spears' "A Winter Storm Fashion Show" Friday night at the Student Recreation Center-North.

The show began at 6:30 p.m. and more than 300 people came out to witness pieces from DKThree clothing line that the owner of the company and president of the Fashion Society, Devin Spears, put together.

"This was my first fashion show," Spears said. "I had the vision for it over the summer and I knew about the Fashion Society, so I talked to someone about taking it over so I could be able to bring my vision to life."

Each outfit was modeled by Southeast students with special guest and professional model, Shanell Diane.

Spears held open auditions at the beginning of the semester for anyone who wanted to be involved in the show, whether it was being an actual model or working behind the scenes such as doing hair and makeup.

"I was very excited when I found out about the fashion show," Breiona Catching, sophomore and one of the models for the show, said. "I knew I had to be involved."

"Although I was really nervous before hitting the stage I just tried to have fun."

The show consisted of five different scenes: bedazzle and fur, high class, middle class, misfits and bandits and nightlife.

The pieces showcased maintained a constant theme of neutral colors. Ponchos, fur, gold and leather were a few elements incorporated in the looks for each scene.

Entertainment was provided including a performance of Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain," by junior vocal education major Hannah Sherer and seniro advertising major Parker Butler; as well as a performance from Spears himself who sang and played the piano; and Brittany Graham, who sang Beyoncé's "Ego."

The event also acted as a coat drive and donations were collected for the Fashion Society's Christmas sponsor. The items collected will go towards helping rehab centers, shelters and less fortunate families.

"I really enjoyed the fashion show," sophomore public relations major Sydney Rogers said. "The looks were really cute and gave me an idea for Christmas gifts."

"I was shooting for the stars, I was aiming for Beyoncé level," Spears said. "Although, I did want something a little bit more because the whole idea of the winter storm didn't come forth."

Spears was referring to the video that didn't get to play at the start of the show because of technical difficulties.

"I still accomplished what I wanted to accomplish, let's put it that way," Spears said.
