Southeast Missouri State’s women’s basketball team defeated Eastern Illinois 82-52 giving them a 15-12 overall record, 8-6 in conference play. With the win, the Redhawks clinched a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee, starting March 2-5.

Junior guard Bri Mitchell finished the game with 22 points, giving her back-to-back 20-point games.

The Redhawks got their first lead of the game at the 5:54 mark when they were leading 7-5, and they never looked back.

The Redhawks only gave up 9 points in the first quarter. Almost five and a half minutes into the second quarter, Eastern Illinois scored their first basket of the quarter.

Southeast ended the first half with a 34-18 lead.

At the end of the first half Mitchell and senior forward Erin Bollmann led the team with 11 points.

The Redhawks’ offense did not slow down as they scored 30 points in the third quarter.

The Redhawks got their largest lead of the night of 33 points with 45 seconds left in the game.

Bollmann finished the game with 15 points. Senior forward Connor King finished the game with a season-high of 13 points.

The win for Southeast guaranteed the team a winning record and broke their three-game losing streak.

The Redhawks’ final home game is Wednesday night against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. They will honor seniors Erin Bollmann and Connor King.
