Professor Sara Edgerton and professor Matt Yount from the Department of Music at Southeast Missouri State University will perform their recital of music from the Baroque, Romantic and 20th Century eras at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 6 in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall at the River Campus.

The Baroque era of music took place from 1600 through 1750, while the Romantic era of music happened from 1800 through 1900.

Edgerton said music from the Baroque era tends to have a strong feeling of rhythm.

“The music is very colorful and full of motion,” Edgerton said. She also said the music is very dramatic.

She also said music from the romantic era is full of emotion and expression.

“Romantic music has beautiful, expressive melodies and rich, full harmonies,” Edgerton said.

The performance will consist of pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach and Cesar Franck. Edgerton said the public should come relax and enjoy music with melodies and harmonies of classically-oriented pieces.

The event will cost $10, and tickets maybe purchased at the River Campus Box Office or online at RiverCampusEvents.com. The River Campus Box Office is located at 518 S. Fountain St. and its hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. The box office’s phone number is (573) 651-2265.
