The Saudi Students Association at Southeast Missouri State University hosted its Saudi Night on Friday, Nov. 12, at Centenary United Methodist Church.

Students, faculty and community members were welcomed at the event.

The purpose of the event was for the Saudi Arabian students to showcase their culture and clarify any confusion the public may have, according to Abdullah Bin Muqbil, senior in computer science and the president of the Saudi Students Association.

The event provided an opportunity for Saudi Arabian students to interact with other students from their home country’s and for non-Saudi Arabian natives to ask questions and become educated on the Saudi Arabian culture.

The event was expected to have 300 to 500 attendants. There were multiple booths set up throughout the entrance of the church where attendees could learn more about culture, traditional clothing and the religion of Islam. There was a dinner held providing traditional Saudi food for the attendees to try.

Dulce Munoz, an international student from Mexico and a junior in the public relations major, attended the event in hopes to be more involved with other international students. “ I want to get a greater insight to the people and get a connection with them knowing that their uniqueness makes them even more special, and at the end of the day we are all humans,” Munoz said.
