The Aerial Swing Dance Club at Southeast Missouri State University hosted its Yule Ball on Saturday, Dec. 3, in the UC Ballroom B. The event was expected to have 30 to 45 attendants and all students were welcome.

“We make it a welcoming environment for everyone. I took the theme to my committee and we have several members who are Harry Potter fans.” Claudia Norton, vice president of the Aerial Swing Dance Club said. It was a great tie-in with the holiday season, and many of us grew up with Harry Potter.” said Norton The event provided an opportunity for students attending to take lessons with trained students from the club.

“No experience is required, and anything you’re not comfortable with you don’t have to try. There’s a lot to learn and it’s whatever you’d like to do,” Jason Scruggs, public relations officer of the Aerial Swing Dance Club said.

With finals quickly approaching at Southeast, many students tend to find ways to de-stress.

“It’s a great way when you’re so stressed to the max to just come around people who understand you and who get what you’re going through,” Norton said “I think it’s a great way to release, especially with finals coming up.”
