Two-time Grammy Award winners Riders in the Sky will perform at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.

The Riders in the Sky is a western music and comedy group that has released more than 30 albums dating back to 1977.

The quartet is famous for its comedy acts, performances that appeal to families and children, as well as its mix of traditional western and country music.

The Riders have done more than 6000 performances across all 50 states and 10 countries from county fairs to Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.

After nearly 40 years, the Riders have managed to have the three original members (Douglas "Ranger Doug" B. Green, Fred "Too Slim" LaBour and Paul "Woody Paul" Chrisman) stay together since their formation, as well as the addition of Joseph "Joey The Cow-Polka King" Miskulin, who has been with the group since 1989.

The Riders in the Sky members' careers have been more involved in media than most would realize.

Their radio presence has been prevalent since 1982 with program involvement on the Grand Ole Opry radio program, National Public Radio and Sirius XM.

In 1998, The Riders were introduced to Disney and Pixar and ended up performing the song "Woody's Round Up" for the 1999 film, "Toy Story 2."

The Riders' work on "Toy Story 2" impressed Disney and Pixar, and lead them to working on a tie-in album for the film, "Woody's Roundup: A Rootin' Tootin' Collection of Woody's Favorite Songs."

The album went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Musical Album for Children at the 2001 Grammy Awards.

In 2003, the Riders yet again worked on an album for Disney and Pixar for the 2001 film "Monsters Inc." called, "Monsters Inc. -- Scream Factory Favorites." That album went on to win their second Grammy in the same category as their previous win.

In addition to two Grammy wins, the Riders were involved in creating the score for Pixar's short film "For the Birds," which won the 2002 Academy Award for Best Animated Short.

The Riders in the Sky members' careers and reputation have earned them spots in the Western Music Association's Hall of Fame and the Country Music Foundation's Walkway of Stars.

They also have won "Entertainers of the Year," "Traditional Group of the Year" and "Traditional Album of the Year" on multiple occasions from the Western Music Association.

Tickets are available at the River Campus Box Office, by phone at (573) 651-2265 or online at RiverCampus.org and range from $35 to $39.
