Douglas “Fish” Fisher, Southeast area coordinator and musician, will host a free concert titled “Two humans, One message” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, in the University Center Ballroom.

Fisher’s main goal is to promote unity, especially between the secular community, LGBTQA community and Christian community. He urges students not to “run away from what makes them human.”

Fisher’s music style draws inspiration from not only worship, but also hip-hop, dance, techno and dubstep to show there is more to him than ‘I love Jesus’”. Fisher will perform from his second album “Forgive Me Father, For I Have Auto-Tuned.” Unlike his older music, this album provides a different approach to how he “sucks as a Christian.”

Fisher said students should expect to have fun and be lighthearted. In his attempt to bring people together he invited others to perform as well.

Rane Belling, PRIDE president and guitarist, and the Fingerprint Dance Community also will be featured in the event. Belling will perform original songs, one of which is titled “Chains,” while Fingerprint will provide the dance component to the event.

“I really enjoy watching other artists grow, so when Fish (Fisher) presented me with the opportunity to perform on stage with him I couldn't resist such a great opportunity to perform alongside such a great artist,” Fingerprint creator, Micheal “Crank” Curry said.

“Two humans, One message” is a free event, but donations will be accepted. All proceeds raised will benefit the Southeast “PRIDE” organization.

Fisher said that “what you value is where you put your money,” and giving back to PRIDE is his way of showing that he is an ally. Items for purchase include: T-shirts for $10, his album for $5 and bracelets for $1.

The event also will feature a motivational talk on “loving each other.” He intends to explore his motivational speaking passion more in events later this semester.
