The Vienna Boys Choir is a group of more than 100 boys between the ages of 10 and 14, who are separated into four different touring choirs. According to their website, the choirs are named after four famous Austrian composers: Mozart, Haydn, Bruckner and Schubert. The choir that will be performing in Cape Girardeau is the Schubert Choir.

According to Robert Cerchio, assistant director of the Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts, this will be the Vienna Boys Choir's first trip to Southeast Missouri State University.

"The Vienna Boys Choir is unique unto itself. There are other boys' choirs out there who are probably very good, but the Vienna Boys Choir has been around for a very long time and has a huge international following," Cerchio said.

The Vienna Boys Choir has been performing since the 13th century and originated as the Austrian Court's choir. It is one of the oldest choirs not attached to a church or university.

Tickets to see the Vienna Boys Choir are $33 and $39 for the public, and half price with a valid student ID.

To purchase tickets for the event visit the River Campus Box Office located at 518 S Fountain St. during the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, call (573) 651-2265 or online at rivercampus.org/tickets.
