For the first time in 10 years, a professional tour will be performing “Pippin” at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.

The storyline for “Pippin” is based off of a father-son conflict, war, power and much more. Pippin is the son of Charlemagne and the characters are based off of real-life characters from the early Middle Ages. Pippin must prove his loyalty to his father and overcome several mistakes and hardships to do so.

“This is a professionally produced Broadway musical. Our touring shows are the very same ones that people see in Chicago, St. Louis, Atlanta, Denver and many, many other major cities and universities,” Robert Cerchio, assistant director of the River Campus, said.

The show “Pippin” is part of the Bank of Missouri Touring Series and this will be the 29th show out of 76 planned for 2017.

The show will start at 7:30 p.m. on March 3 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.

“It makes for a great date night,” Cerchio said.

The first production ever of “Pippin” was in 1972 and since then this is only the second touring revival. This touring show of “Pippin” is directed by Diane Paulus, with choreography stylings by Bob Fosse and acrobatics by Les 7 Doigts De La Main. While it will be the same Broadway musical that we are used to, Paulus will be presenting the finest artists, sets, costumes and music from a newer approach.

Tickets for the show will vary from $32 to $42 for the public and are half price with a valid Southeast ID.

To purchase tickets for this event visit the River Campus Box Office located at 518 S. Fountain St. during the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, call (573) 651-2265 or online at rivercampus.org/tickets.
