While many of Southeast Missouri State's students spent spring break traveling to beaches or home to be with family, Southeast's softball and baseball teams were taking care of business on the field. The teams played a combined 18 games over the span of 12 days.

On March 8, Southeast's softball team flew from St. Louis to Atlanta to then ride over to Oxford, Alabama, to host the first Leon Smith Classic tournament at Choccolocco Park. Participating teams included Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Belmont, Eastern Illinois, Jacksonville State, Loyola-Chicago, Missouri State, Samford, Southeast Missouri, Tennessee State and Valparaiso.

Southeast's baseball team opened up the first Ohio Valley Conference series of the season at Morehead State on March 9. Southeast was swept on the series.

Southeast's softball team traveled back to Atlanta for games on March 14 and 15 against Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State, respectively.

Meanwhile back on campus on March 15, Southeast's baseball team defeated cross-state rivals, Missouri State.

On March 16, Southeast's softball team hopped on another plane to land in Kansas City, Missouri, before traveling an hour west to compete in the Rock Chalk Challenge at the University of Kansas. Other teams competing at the tournament were Tulsa, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Louisiana State University, Nebraska-Omaha and the University of Kansas. The team finished with a 1-4 record on the weekend.

While the softball team was in Kansas, Southeast's baseball team held the first home OVC match up of the year, sweeping UT Martin all three games.

Southeast's baseball team will travel to Central Arkansas for a midweek match up on Wednesday, March 21, then on March 24 to 26 to SIUE for the team's third OVC series of the season. The team is currently 10-7.

Southeast's softball team opens up OVC play with double-headers at Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State on March 25 and 26, respectively. The softball team is now 15-10.
