New Year, New Arrow

Friday, January 26, 2018

The new year dictum “New Year, New Me” has made its way into the Southeast Arrow newsroom as we work to become a better newspaper that serves the Southeast community.

We have been working diligently over break to restructure our internal procedures to better suit our newest makeover, and we are very excited to announce our newest renovation to our award-winning newspaper:

The Arrow is getting an App!

Of course, it was bound to happen: the Arrow getting all technologically-advanced and what have you. Evolution from flint to steel to graphite. Thanks to technology, we are now sharper than ever.

The long-time dream of ours to be directly on the mobile device of all of our readers is finally coming into fruition as we finish up the final stages of app development.

It is not out yet, but will be coming to the Apple store and Play room relatively soon.

But of course, that’s not all. To meet the required demands that comes with taking the huge step of getting an app, the Arrow is dedicated to making more content and breaking more news than ever before.

Formerly, we have ran a weekly print paper that lands in your mailboxes every Wednesday morning. As a part of our new year makeover, we have transitioned our print edition to release every other week.

As sad as some people may be to receive two less editions of our student-run newspaper every month, we assure that we will make up for lost time with daily content, and an even bigger and better paper on those biweekly publications.

The app will include a function called “My Arrow” that will allows readers to choose what kind of news they want to receive in their own personalized feed — and will send updated headlines to our readers daily.

We are not going to spoil all the surprised that the App will hold, but rest assured when it is finally available to the public, you are not going to want to miss this (at least we think so).

As always, the Arrow is dedicated to serving our community and innovating to conform to the way our audience consumes news.

We hope that with the app as our newest tool, we will be able to best notify the community of everything that’s trending on Southeast’s campus.
