“Sundays at Three” was presented by Southeast’s Music Department on Aug. 26. and featured clarinet, viola, violin and piano pieces. Southeast music professor Gabrielle Baffoni, played clarinet in the recital.

“I am always a little bit nervous and a little bit excited. Today I was mostly excited,” Baffoni said. “It takes some of the nerves away when you are about to share what you do with your friends, to the audience.”

Baffoni shared the stage with violinists Andrew Braddock and Ching-Yi Lin, and pianist Zachary Lopes.

Baffoni explained that preparation for a show like this consists of eight hours of practice a day, with additional individual practice, before coming together to play as an ensemble.

Baffoni said the type of music featured at this event reminds her why her musical passion was ignited in college.

“I knew pretty early on that this was something that I wanted to do,” Baffoni said. I started to take lessons and started to get introduced to youth orchestras and getting to see the large groups of people who all share the same love of music.”

Among those in attendance was a student violinist Danielle Seidel.

“It was really entertaining, and I came because I love Dr. Baffoni and I want to continue to learn more about how to play the violin,” Seidel said.

The next Music Department event will feature violinist Sophia Han, who will perform at the Shuck Recital Hall at SEMO’s River Campus on Sept. 23.
