Career services hosted a smaller Business, Accounting and Finance Micro Expo job fair for students to connect with employers searching for talented candidates. Interested students met with employers in their field to discuss their long-term career goals and job opportunities in Dempster Hall Thursday, Sept. 17.

Dan Presson, director of career services, said the MicroExpo is meant to benefit not only the students but the companies involved by giving them access to future graduates and potential staff.

As students went around the tables speaking with different employers, they made sure to find out about the different opportunities available and what each company had to offer them.

“I want to gain information and network and possibly get an offer while keeping my options open,” accounting major Cody Bunger said.

Randy Rainwater, regional director of Modern Woodmen of America, said his company has returned to Southeast's job fairs since 1994 and has had successful recruits throughout the years.

“We have three SEMO alums that work for us now: one is in a management position with us, and the other one is in an internship management where they are moving into a management role, and the other is the top rep in the eastern part of Missouri,” Rainwater said.

Danielle Grennemay, sales representative of Sherwin Williams, said she came to the Micro Expo in search of a specific kind of candidate — someone committed and personable, who would be a reliable asset to her company.

“We are looking for someone who is driven and who has great customer service skills with a positive attitude, and someone who is willing to show up and put in the work for our company,” Greenemay said.

Career Services is hosting the next Virtual Career Expo Sept. 30. For more information on employment opportunities or Career Services, visit their website.
