Student Financial Services (SFS) and Chartwells were points of interest at a Student Government Association (SGA) meeting Monday, Nov. 9.

University Affairs Committee chairperson Ashley Stephan said she met with SFS Director Matthew Kearney in an effort to mend student relationships and communications with SFS.

Kearney said communicating bill due dates to students is a challenge at Southeast, although important dates can be found on the SFS website by viewing the Financial Calendar.

Stephan reminded SGA members about SEMO-Pay, an online billing platform available to students at Southeast.

“SEMO-Pay is easily accessible, and students can opt into receiving text message reminders when their bill is due,” Stephan said.

Stephan said the University Affairs Committee will continue to work with SFS on other possible solutions.

Student Issues Committee chairperson Heather Hoffman said her committee met with Alicia Ticer, director of marketing and student engagement at Chartwells, to discuss healthier dining options at Southeast.

Ticer said Chartwells is always evaluating current on-campus dining experiences.

“We routinely evaluate locations on campus to determine how we can best serve our guests. At this time, we have not made decisions regarding new concepts on campus,” Ticer said.

Chartwells offers vegetarian options students may not be aware of.

Hoffman said students could have an easier way of finding healthier on-campus dining options thanks to a potential vegetarian food guide.

“The guide would help students find current on-campus vegetarian options they might not have thought of before,” Hoffman said.

Hoffman said students can utilize Chartwells’ texting service to voice any feedback pertaining to on-campus dining options.
