In an email to the campus community on Nov. 19, Southeast President Carlos Vargas announced he came in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

Vargas stated in the email the contact did not come during Saturday’s commencement ceremony. He said he went into quarantine immediately on Tuesday when he found out.

“I have no symptoms and I’m following Protect the Nest guidelines,” Vargas stated.

Vargas will miss the commencement ceremony planned for Nov. 21, and Provost Mike Godard will preside in his place.
