It’s Thanksgiving week! A time to celebrate with family, catch up with old friends, or be like me and stay on campus playing cooking games.

But it’s OK, because I have some really good suggestions. Cooking games are such an obscure genre, and yet, they can be so fun.

To start off strong, I’m going to suggest my personal favorite: Overcooked!

A close friend bought this game for me a few months ago, and it was so fun to play together! The fast-paced environment and subtle storyline makes the game really enjoyable.

And let me tell you, some of those levels are super difficult!

Another great game to play that (somewhat) involves cooking is Pokémon Cafe Mix! While it’s mainly a puzzle game, you work to create new dishes for Pokémon that visit your cafe. The game is filled with cute characters and fun puzzles, and best of all, it's free!

This next suggestion is really going to throw people for a loop, but just let me explain.

Minecraft. You can cook, you can build, you can hold a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration!

With the right shaders and texture packs, you can make your game look like it’s a beautiful autumn day. I’d suggest BSL for shaders mixed with Clarity for your resource pack. Together, it’ll make your game look like you're in the real world! And then you can cook some pie to celebrate.

As a follow-up to my last column, I did some digging about the Papa Louie’s games. While they currently aren’t available on PC, you can play all of them on mobile!

Cupcakeria, Freezeria, Sushiria — the list goes on and on!

You do have to pay, but it's never more than two dollars from what I saw. And with the amount of time you can spend building a store or playing the minigames, I’d say two dollars is definitely worth it.

So go cook your heart out!

The last game I want to mention is Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Last week, I mentioned the Turkey Day event. Well, that day is finally upon us! Be sure to cook and collect all the great dishes from Franklin the chef.
