The Redhawks dropped a hard-fought game against the Belmont Bruins 70-67 Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Show Me Center.

Senior guard Taelour Pruitt said the performance shown during the game was drastically different than Thursday's game.

“I think our focus today was just to perform better than we did on Thursday. We knew that we could put together something better than what we did last time and I think we had fun out there,” Pruitt said.

The loss dropped the Redhawks to 5-20 on the year and potentially knocked them out of the OVC tournament, but there is no sign of them slowing down as the season ends.

“We can still practice hard. We can still come into the games and compete just like we did tonight,” Pruitt said.

Junior guard Roshala Scott had a career-high game, scoring 25 points while grabbing seven rebounds and shooting a perfect 7-7 at the free throw line.

“Rose can score the way she did today in every game. She is a true two way player,” Coach Rekha Patterson said about her performance.

Coach Patterson said although this season has not gone according to plan, it has been about growth as a team.

“We want to grow throughout the season. We’ve been plugging and playing all year and it was nice to see the full roster play together today. The next four games we want to continue our growth and intention on getting better and winning games,” Patterson said.

She said the crowd’s energy at the end of the game helped the team stay in the game.

“Thank you to the fans at the game today. People could have chosen anything to do on a sunny Saturday afternoon but they chose to be here and I appreciate that. We felt them down the stretch and hopefully the community is proud of the effort today,” Patterson said.

The Redhawks will travel to Cookeville, Tenn. on Thursday, Feb. 17 to face the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m.
