The Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Board passed a vote to allow 16 student organizations who applied to be recognized by SGA for the 2022-23 academic year.

Next, treasurer Heather Hoffman said, the Executive Board is allowed to approve funding under $500 and remove the extra step to receive funding from SGA. This approval is the first change to the steps of funding.

Parliamentarian Jonah McGuire discussed the revision of the R. Ferrell Ervin Excellence in Teaching Award bylaw and Barbara Hope Kem scholarship committee bylaw. Next Monday, SGA will go more in depth about the Barbara Hope Kem Scholarship.

“Those are some bylaws that are procedurally, as a body, have not been going exactly what is written in the bylaws.” McGuire said.

SGA plans to update the bylaws to reflect the current practices.

Diversity and Inclusion Chair Andani Ndlovu said she plans to work with the Faculty Senate to add a few features on the new SEMO portal app, so students will have the tools to deal with discrimination on campus.

“If people experience issues of discrimination or anything like that on campus, they are able to go to the portal and be able to see the reports to fill out,” Ndlovu said.

Bertha Sithole is the new representative for the Residence Hall Association, and the Regional Campus Representative spot is vacant.
