SEMO adjunct professor passes away at 51

Thursday, January 26, 2023

Jeffery “Jeff” Hansen, a former adjunct professor of management and marketing, died at Southeast Hospital Jan. 14, 2023, according to the Southeast Missourian.

Marketing chair Willie Redmond, who taught Hansen as Masters of Business Administration student before Hansen worked at the University, said Hansen excelled as both a student and a professor.

“It sounds like a thing I’m supposed to say, but he really was a wonderful person,” Redmond said.

In addition to teaching at SEMO, Hansen was a senior procurement manager at McCormick & Company, according to LinkedIn. However, Redmond said he had been lobbying to bring Hansen on as a full-time professor because of how responsible and thorough he was.

Kevin Dickson, the chairperson of the Department of Management, described Hansen as happy, approachable, friendly and thoughtful. Dickson said Hansen will be missed by many, from his family to faculty and students to members of the community and his church.

“He was always willing to pitch in and do his part. He did a great job and was a great friend,” Dickson said.

Dickson said above all, Hansen cared about his family and three daughters and enjoyed the time he spent with them.
