Tim McCarver, MLB catcher for 12 seasons, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 16.

After two decades on the field for the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies, McCarver spent two more decades broadcasting for the New York Mets and Yankees. According to Semoball.com, he was one of the country’s most well known play-by-play announcers.

The St. Louis Cardinals tweeted their sympathies out to his family, baseball friends and colleagues.
