Two in hospital in Sikeston after 55-gallon drum explosion

Two employees were severely harmed while cutting into a 55-gallon drum at Potashnick Transportation Inc. (PTI) on Wed, Feb. 15.

The drum contained explosive vapors and immediately exploded upon being cut into with a cutting torch, according to wsiltv.com.

Due to the explosion, both employees were taken to a local hospital after being treated on site.

According to Sikeston DPS, one employee was harmed in the head after the explosion, both employees are suffering from burns on their body.

The PTI shop will be recovering from the explosive damage.
