Arts department celebrates arts with auction, exhibit and performance showcase (5/9/22)The Holland College of Arts presented its Celebrate the Arts event with a variety of performances from across the arts such as opera, ballet, modern dance and country music on Thursday, May 5 as well as an auction lasting until Saturday, May 7 that will help to benefit the new arts annex on Frederick Street.

Guiling’s “Space Invaders?” turns found items into art (4/22/21)“Space Invaders?,” an exhibition of sculptural works and photography by Shawn Guiling, “explores the psychological role locations and objects play in one’s life with simple materials assembled against the backdrop of fields and the horizon,” according to a {https://news.semo.edu/space-invaders-explores-safe-spaces-in-catapult-student-artist-of-the-month-exhibit-april-5-may-7/ press release}. Student draws artistic inspiration from Civil Rights Trail (10/9/20)Southeast student Kelly Downes, also a gallery associate at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, is using inspiration from a trip across the Civil Rights Trail — a trail that stretches across 15 states from Kansas to Alabama — in a series of three art pieces on display across Cape Girardeau. The pieces can be viewed at Catapult Creative House, 20 North Pacific and the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri.

Finding her place: Catapult artist’s exhibit explores landscapes (10/4/20)Just a few steps through the glass doors of Catapult Creative House stood a work of art by Jennifer Torres. The first piece sighted held a small blue box on a wooden frame. The work of art placed a city on the top and a hidden forest landscape inside. It was one of many in her series that conveyed the idea of entering a new world.
