Set in 1906 in Oklahoma Territory just before Oklahoma became a state. The play follows the love triangle between a young cocky cowboy named Curly, who is loved by all women of the town but only has his sights set on one girl, Laurey, a feisty farm girl.

Someone else also wants Laurey, a strange, frightful farmhand named Jud, and he is willing to give up everything for her.

The story also follows a boy-crazy girl named Ado Annie as she gets engaged to a man who doesn’t want to marry her, Ali Hakim, and another man, Will Parker, who wants Annie to be his bride.
