The Student Government Association (SGA) met on April 22 to vote on multiple campus organization funding proposals.

SGA passed two annual fundings for the Club Sports organization and the WINGS shuttle service.

Club Sports was granted an extra $500 in addition to their $20,000 yearly budget. The additional amount was proposed due to the inclusion of new sports, such as baseball, cricket and wrestling.

Though a WINGS representative was unable to attend the meeting, the board decided on a 10% increase in funding instead of the proposed 25% increase from their application.

WINGS is responsible for shuttle services not only on campus but also offers rides to places off campus including Schnucks, Walmart and Target.

Multiple members of SGA said that the service is important, especially for international students who have a difficult time commuting to places off campus.

The other proposals brought the meeting were for different organization events and upcoming travel costs.

Lambda Chi Alpha received $600, and Tau Kappa Epsilon received $800 for aid for seminar and conclave trips coming up this summer.

Lambda Chi Alpha representative Cletus Pippin III said that the aid would benefit the members attending the 60th General Assembly-Stead Leadership Conference.

“[The cost] is at about $450 per person so with this money, we are going to plan on splitting it between three people who are going,” Pippin said.

The International Student Union and the Bangladeshi Student Association also received partial funding for their upcoming events.

SGA member Sophie Martin commended the Black Student Union’s fundraising efforts for The Black Oscars event.

“I just want to bring attention to the fact that the fundraising was so creative,” Martin said. “It was awesome.”

In return, the Black Student Union was granted their proposal for $1,668.94 in aid from April 20th’s event food and rental costs.

SGA also recognized the nominees for upcoming Student Government Executive Board positions.
