SEMO secured a decisive 19-0 victory over Northwestern State, powered by four field goals from kicker DC Pippin. The Redhawks defense delivered a stellar performance, shutting out the Demons and allowing just 127 total yards—marking SEMO's first shutout win in 34 years. Despite losing lead back Payton Brown to an ankle injury early in the game, Darrell Smith stepped up, rushing for 145 yards. Quarterback DeLaurent contributed with 237 passing yards and a touchdown, ensuring a dominant win for the Redhawks.

Northwestern State started off with the ball and stalled as they did most of the game.

DeLaurent and his explosive offense wasted no time, striking first on the scoreboard. He connected with receiver Cam Pedro for a 10-yard touchdown pass, giving the Redhawks an early 7-0 lead.

Following that, the game slowed considerably. On their next drive, SEMO settled for a red zone field goal from DC Pippin, extending their lead to 10-0.

SEMO's defense came up big again, forcing another stop and giving DeLaurent the ball back. However, while attempting to find a receiver across the middle, his pass was intercepted by Northwestern State’s Antonio Hall, returning possession to the Demons.

A long drive from SEMO would end up having to settle for 3 again as DC Pippin nailed another field goal to extend the lead to 13-0.

SEMO would have to attempt another field goal on their next drive as DC Pippin would push this one just right, keeping the score at 13-0 in SEMO’s favor.

After the half SEMO started with the ball and once again settled for a red zone field goal attempt as Pippin was called on again and this time would nail the field goal making SEMO’s lead 16-0.

After back and forths of both teams punting SEMO would get the ball back and would end up having to attempt another field goal as Pippin would push this one just right also keeping the score at 16-0 in SEMO’s favor.

After a hard fought drive to get inside the 2-yard line SEMO would once again settle for a field goal attempt and Pippin buried this one inside the 10-yard line making SEMO’s lead 19-0 late in the fourth quarter.

SEMO’s defense stood tall and did not allow anything from Northwestern State to end the game and SEMO would kneel the ball out and SEMO would win the game 19-0.

“They said it was our first shutout in 34 years, pretty impressive how they played today, limiting their offense, kind of the story of the day” Coach Tuke on his defensive performance today.

SEMO is back on the road next week as they travel to Eastern Illinois University to take on the Panthers in OVC play.
