State representative Donna Lichtenegger (Republican – 146th District) stopped to watch the election at the Cape County Republican watch party in Cape Girardeau. Lichtenegger thinks the election is going well so far for the Republican Party.

“All in all I think the people need a change, I think that’s what they’re voting for,” Lichtenegger said.

She said Trump never intended to run for president and hasn’t been primed over the years.

“He is a different candidate,” Lichtenegger said. “He is an outsider, his fingerprints are on nothing. I think that the media have truly been unfair.”

Lichtenegger criticized the press as being in the pockets of the democrats.

“Now, that being said, I hope they learn from this,” she said.

“I think that we should work on having a fair press,” Lichtenegger said. “The press is important and the press needs to be asking questions who, when, where and how, and if they ask those question, they don’t put their perspective in.”
