The Student Government and members of the finance committee allocated funding for the FY19 including a $8,000 budget for the Homecoming Planning Committee, $17,500 for Club Sports and $8,700 for When In Need Go Shuttle (W.I.N.G.S) at its meeting Monday night.

A resolution sponsored by the funding board passed adding six days of service to the yearly W.I.N.G.S schedule to support students who stay over break. The new addition will provide transportation by W.I.N.G.S on the Friday of Labor Day, the Friday before fall break, the Friday before spring break and the Friday during spring break and Good Friday.

The Student Activities Council (SAC) objected to their $110,000 FY19 budget for the 2018-19 school year.

An increased budget was in question as SAC will undergo a large transition of new members on its executive board.

“We need new people, we need new minds,” president Abbie Scrogum said. “We need fresh opinions to bring those events that students want to see.”

Scrogum advocated for a $5,000 budget increase due to recent state budget cuts forcing them to co-sponsor large events. The proposal passed.

A request by the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) for funds for a speaker fee was withdrawn after sparking discussion about discrimination on gender and religion.

The retreat held by FOCUS is tailored “specifically to women,” which caused concern from SGA due to bylaws enforcing inclusion.

Another resolution, sponsored by Eli Bohnert and Karma Alvey, passed formally opposed the budget proposed by Missouri Governor Eric Greitens. It passed.

“If we want to have our chance to put our voice out there,” Bohnert said. “It’s now, or we forfeit our opportunity to do so.”

The resolution will be sent and expressed to the board of regents, the president of Southeast, all members of the Legislature, governor and lieutenant governor of Missouri.

An resolution discussed at the SGA meeting was for an approval request for the Parker Field mural committee, which allows a committee to select the designs for the two mural spaces per semester and to monitor the progress of the participants and murals. It passed.

The Nepalese Student Association received its funding request of $2,080 for a backdrop, photo booth, ribbons, balloons and food at the SGA meeting for their Nepali Night, which will showcase the Nepali cultural, on April 21 in the Knox Room at the Show Me Center.

The Student Secular Alliance (SSA) will receive funds of $540 for the SSA annual National Conference in Columbus, Ohio, to fund three nights of housing for six students attending the event.
