SEMO Volleyball drops weekend road matches

Southeast volleyball dropped road matches to Murray State and Austin Peay on Friday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 27.

Senior Haley Bilbruck posted a career high 18 kills in a four-set loss to Murray State.

Sophomore Laney Malloy recorded nine kills and junior Annie Wehrheim had eight kills.

Freshman Claire Ochs tallied 37 assists and recorded a team-high 23 digs.

Sophomore Ally Dion added 20 digs and Madeline Grimm had a season high 17.

The Redhawks won the first set 25-22 before the Racers answered back with three straight set wins, 25-15, 25-20, 25-17.

The Redhawks and Racers split the season series 1-1.

Austin Peay swept the Redhawks the following day, 25-15, 25-20 and 25-16.

Both Wehrheim and Bilbruck each had 10 kills in the match.

Ochs distributed 28 assists and seven digs, sophomore Maggie Adams added six kills while Dion had 11 digs.

SEMO, which fell to 6-6 in the conference and 14-11 overall, is back home at Houck Field House on Friday, Nov. 2, and Saturday, Nov. 3, against Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois University.

SIUE has a conference record of 7-6 while EIU holds onto a 4-8 conference record.

Looking ahead, the Redhawks will complete its conference schedule against UT Martin on Nov. 6 and Jacksonville State on Nov. 10.
