A popular St. Louis cover band, brought a new, modern sound of live music to Dogwood Social House Saturday.

This six member cover band group, by the name of Big Rain, consists of five males and one female. The band prides themselves on being versatile and current while performing music from several genres including country, pop and indie.

Opening less than a year ago, the popular venue for college students, families and sports enthusiasts hosts live music every Friday and Saturday night. People in and around Cape Girardeau come to enjoy the amenities of the venue such as axe-throwing, an arcade with a prize booth, shuffleboard, bowling and unique patio seating.

Performing for about four hours with only a few breaks, Big Rain provided the audience with an immense amount of cover songs. The setlist included music from artists such as Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, Pharell and more. The stage lights were bright and colorful moving along with the band’s music.

Every beat of Big Rain’s music filled Dogwood making it difficult to hear within two feet and no matter the amenity, guests were still able to hear the live music loud and clear.

The mixture of upbeat and slow songs also allowed listeners to get on the dance floor and dance the night away, bob their heads to the beat or even sing along.

At the end of each song, the audience applauded with big smiles.

Coming up for the next weekend of live music, Southeast Missouri’s own Gen X Band will perform Friday, August 6 at Dogwood Social House located at 80 S Plaza Way in Cape Girardeau.
